The other day i downloaded the facebook app and used about 3 days. then i visited the gridrepublic.org and downloaded their program. the grid app replaced the one from intel's progree thru proessors and my work disappered. i had to sing up with grdirepublic and star over again. what can i do join both programs and retain work done from previous processing?

Well actually both downloads (Progress Thru Processors and GridRepublic) are the same software (different versions) with different branding.  They both are using the BOINC software with new skins and screensavers.   Essencially you installed one version over another.

The Progress Thru Processors Facebook application links you seemlessly to the GridRepublic website and is compatible with BOINC software.  GridRepublic helped create the PTP Facebook Application.

The PTP branded download is using the latest underlying software in relation to  the GridRepublic branded download.

You did not need to join PTP then join GridRepublic.  PTP automatically created a GridRepublic Account.

Since you have essencially created two GridRepublic accounts I do not know if it is possible to merge them. I will see what I can find out on this and post back what I find.

it should not be possible to install both PTP desktop and GR desktop, the installers should prevent this, but sometimes they don't.  so for starters, let's be sure you have only one desktop software installation:

assuming you are running windows, do you have any/all of the following folders:

* C:\Program Files\BOINC

* C:\Program Files\GridRepublic

* C:\Program Files\Progress Thru Processors

* if XP:
   C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\BOINC
   if Vista:
   C:\ProgramData\BOINC

also, in your "start" menu, do you see "GridRepublic", "Progress Thru Processors", both, or neither?

and as a point of interest: do you see the "progress thru processors" screensaver?
