When you click to add PTP to your FB account, this is what should happen:
(1) you should get asked for misc permissions -- this is a standard FB feature when adding an app.
(2) then you should get a PTP registration page. The first question is "Are you new to volunteer computing? (or do you have a BOINC, GridRepublic, or World Community Grid account?)" The default for this initial question is "yes". But if you click to set it to "no", then the form will change, and ask you for your BOINC/GR email and password. This will allow you to connect PTP to your already-existing GR account.
Let me know if this gets you connected -- or if the above isn't clear, or if something isn't working for you...
Yes. We still haven't updated the site DB. (This is more than just putting in a new address for the old one; sorry.)
In the good news department, we've just substantially updated our facebook app, Progress Thru Processors. And also recently launchedCharity Engine. Plus work is in progress one one other really exciting project....
Still in the works is a general overhaul of the system here at GR, and we'll update all the outdated links as part of that. Prob will take well into January, though...
GR lets you set "resource share": this setting allows you to specify what portion of your computer's time is allocated to each of your projects.
To figure the proportion of time allocated to a specific project: take the resource share for that project as the numerator, and then add together the resource shares of all your projects and take that as the denominator -- this ratio is the percent of time that will be allocated to the one project. (Subject to change if one or another project does not have work available.)
Work fetch policies and time estimates are determined by BOINC itself and/or individual projects; GR does not control these.
Thanks. We're migrating soon to Drupal; and at some point after that we look forward to internationalizing... Thanks for your interest and stay tunted......
Well, the logout button kind of is a "force logout" link. We're currently working on a substantial overhaul of the GR software; this should make the issue you encountered, which is rare, even more so.
Meanwhile, glad you found the fix, and sorry for any inconvenience.
John, adding/editing projects should (of course) work. (I did so recently.) Can you post more info -- for instance, did you get any errors? What did you do and what happenned?...
