When I start my screen saver, it says I have about 683~ G-Hours, on Facebook, my G-hours are frozen to 163~, it has been more than 48 hours, and it isn't updating, I tried signing out and back in, and refreshing my points, anyone know how to make the two show the same hours?

the stats shown in the FB app will rarely if ever match those displayed on your screensaver.  the FB app data will tend to be a bit older.  i wonder, can you wait another 24 hours and check again, and see if your FB stats remain "stuck", and then post back here?

 if so: post these three:

  • stats from screensaver
  • stats from the gridrepublic.org home page
  • stats from the FB dashboard page

  • Screensaver Stats: 741.46 g-hours (Does not list points)
  • Gridrepublic Stats: 3089.41 Points (Does not list g-hours
  • Facebook Dashboard Stats: 177.93 g-hours and 741.36 points

Ok, so I note fro the above that your stats are in fact changing -- the values reported most recently are higher than those originally reported.

One important thing to note is that GridRepublic reports progress in "points" (which are at the same as BOINC credits).  But Progress Thru Processors reports progress in two units: GHours, and GFlops.

A GridRepublic "point" (or a BOINC "credit") is meant to represent 1/100th of a day of computing work by a computer with a 1 GFLOP processor.  a GHour is meant to represent one hour of work by a computer with a 1 GFLOP processor (ie, 1/24th of a day).  So, to convert points (or credits) to GHours, you multiply by 0.24.

In your case you will thus see that 3089 points translates to 741 Ghours (ie, 3089 * 0.24 = 741).

Your note above is unclear, but I think this is consistent with what you are reporting.

The PTP Dashboard page reports one other stat, not reported at GR -- "average power", reported in GFLOPS.  this is a measure of the average computing speed of the resources you are making available to research.  This is a separate statistic from points/credits/Ghours.

Does this clarify?

Thanks for the fast reply,

but what I don't understand is, on the screensaver, it shows 741.46 g-hours, I'm using the "Progress Thru Processors Program" so I'm guessing the hours that show up on the screensaver should be the same on the Facebook Dashboard, but on the Facebook, the hours are shown much lower than the screensaver

the facebook values may lag the screensaver values.

(but in your report above, it seems the difference was fairly small -- 741.46 vs 741.36?)
